That’s My Kid!

I’m so delighted to be collaborating with my friends at Night & Day Studios. As if plucked from my list of dream jobs, I’m getting to illustrate and record music for three apps with this wonderful Portland company. Right now, we’re in production for the first app. But it’s truly a family operation at Night & Day, and consequently, our little household has contributed all sorts of things to the thoughtful, well-designed apps this creative house is generating. Check out all their apps to find music composed and performed by Seth and my first effort at voiceover. But perhaps my favorite app right now is an adaptation of Ed Emberley’s classic kids’ book, “Go Away Big Green Monster.” Through surprisingly little coaching, my daughter narrated a version of the story … and she killed it. Enjoy!

Congratulations to our friends at Night & Day and thanks for this treasure.

Perennials

A distinguished pioneer among West Coast chrysanthemum fanciers, Dr. Ira Cross casts an affectionate eye over the small garden he has tended for more than 30 years in Berkeley, CA. He bred the anenome types at lower left named Lady Blanche, for his wife.

Mrs. Irving Fraim of Waltham, Massachusetts, who has been raising day lilies for more than 25 years, holds a few of the 300-odd varieties that flourish in her garden.

In a shaded corner of her Bethesda, Maryland, garden, Dr. Gwendolyn Wood examines some of the spider chrysanthemums that have won her a number of awards. She is particularly fond of Miss Atlanta, a spider type shown at the upper left-hand corner.

A bright blanket of autumn colors formed by chrysanthemums of the decorative category fills the Maryland garden of Isabel Chappell (seated) and Gladys Guinn, retired teachers.

A bouquet for Seth on Father’s Day from the garden. We only lost it to the compost bin today.

Rainy Sunday Morning

Can’t make myself return this library book, The View from Great Dixter: Christopher Lloyd’s Garden Legacy. His lilac shirt! The little stain on his belly! I’m mad for every photograph.
